Marvel Relaunches 'West Coast Avengers' as Young Hero Team

Stage 4: North Richland Hills

Barfield Trail in NRH
Today I ran a course that I'm pretty excited about. When we moved to our home 4 years ago I saw a map of North Richland Hills park system and they showed all of these fantastic trails. Come to find out, they were just planned trails and what they had last year was some unmarked trails with fences and woods. I actually tried to run some of these routes on the 10 in 10 two years ago but you couldn't due to barbed wire fences and rivers.

In the last year they have done a lot, and the Barfield Multi-Purpose Trail is set to officially open next month. They are still adding sod, removing construction debris, and cutting some trees down. This new trail system connects Keller's Bear Creek Park to the Cottonbelt Trail and has over 4 miles of paved trail open now. It comes within a block of our home, and I no longer have to run on the side of busy streets.

Ok, so today's run started fast. Another cool day and it is downhill for most of the first mile. So even though I wasn't warmed up yet I ran under 8:00 on the first mile. I was able to maintain this when I did warm up and had to do some work in the last two miles of hills to keep my overall time at 1 hour and 19 minutes. This was fastest run yet, and just one of two courses where I start from the house. Four of the next five days will require me to drive more than 30 minutes to a start line.

Cross Timbers Park @ Starnes
They have made a lot of additions to the Cross Timbers Park just 2 miles from our home. A park I look forward to the first being big enough to bike to in a few years.

The park upgrades include paving the trails I've been running for the last few years. This is the one I've seen coyotes on. They also added a bathroom and water fountain.
